Laki
Laki is made of a different type of rock than the lava that the craters were ejecting. This almost looks like concrete!
This is the last crater before Laki, from the south. This one is ok to enter. The one back a few pages was roped off. The ranger was taking names...
These craters sure made a mess!
Oh look, another troll cave!
This is the rock that is made from the lava. It does not resemble the rock on Laki.
And here you can see how the crater line could not cut through Laki. Notice how that groove ahead just dies out as it shifts to the left.
The inside of the crater still had a few holes in it!
And one even still had snow in it!
As we reached the end of the crater line at Laki, there was a lava cover over some cinders that had broken off. Lots of colour!
And here's a pile of cinders beside it! Very bright colours in the burnt rock!
We got back to the vans, and John took the opportunity to look like he belongs!
We drove around the back of the crater row along the loop road to another of the craters...
