East of Myvatn


Next up is the Krafla crater. Along the way, we passed through a serious geothermal collection area.



The crater is filled with a picturesque lake, but unfortunately a picturesque rain storm chased us all back down to the picturesque parking lot!



The crater next to it is dry, and shows a lot of colour. On a dryer day, there was much to explore...



Having been chased down the hill by the rain, we found ourselves boxed in by a bus. The driver was trying to convince the reluctant passengers to get out into the rain. It took a while.



The steam collection pipes were routed over the road!



And here is the generation plant.



This had us curious. Alongside the road, on the way back to the hiway from Krafla, there was this outdoor sink, and a shower that was running non-stop!
