The museum attached to the large retail facility was quite well done, and it explained the whole pearl economy through the ages. They also had video clips of their techniques.



Rather than explain how it's done, I thought the pearl constructions would be more interesting! This is a re-build of a pagoda displayed in Philadelphia in 1926.



The liberty bell. Presented in a New York exhibition in 1939, the event was interupted when war broke out. This is also a reproduction.



The displays included more recent creations.



The glass of water is there to keep the pearls from drying out.



A very beautiful construction.



Now that's a globe!



Yup, it makes a very nice globe!



After leaving pearl island, we went up the main hill in town, which used to be the location of a large castle.



The old foundations were still in evidence.



The only ones up here were this guy practicing his golf pitching, and a couple of teens on their bikes.



Oh look! A sumo ring!
