Toba.

We walked down the path on the far side. This is what what we saw...

An old prison? Or an insane asylum? This place was very disconcerting. For sure, people have disappeared here!

And here you can see it on the hillside above the train tunnel. It looks like the bad guy's hideout in a movie. So what is it?
Well, if it looks like a prison, it's probably a school... Yup, a former elementary school, and a heritage building. One of the earliest concrete buildings. Ugh.

We walked back to the train station, as most of the town had closed for the day.

The train back. It was as crowded as everthing else here. This is not downtown Kyoto!

Back at the ryokan, I wanted a night picture of the married rocks. The frogs really make a statement at night!

It took 8 seconds to get this picture. I had to put the camera on a nearby support. No way I could hand-hold this!

These motorcycle parts monsters were in the window near the ryokan. We found out later that it's actually the annex to the one we are in.

Apparently, the same person that bought the massive wooden desk and chairs, also bought these!
I do believe the first one is Sigourny Weaver's enemy, and this one is Arnold Schwartzenegger's foe. Note the miniatures at its feet.

The ryokan's men's bath, complete with locally relevant tile image.

The actual tub is a stone boat hull, which could easily hold 6 adults. It's deeper than it looks. According to Yuko, the women's bath is not as fancy.

I wanted to record "the first time the tv was turned on during this vacation" moment....
