A Vancouver Visit.

John came over for a week, to see what that retirement life thing is all about...
So, first day we toured downtown on foot with Yuko, for lunch. The air was smokey, so visibility was poor. We did about 20 km walking. ...now that's retirement!
The next day, while Yuko went back to work, John rented a bike...

...and we cycled to New Westminster...

...for lunch!

This is a small cafe on New Westminster Quay, owned by a young Dutch women. It has short hours, and a very "brunch" menu, with lots of waffles, etc...

Being outside meant we didn't need to worry too much about locking up the bikes.

We made a 67 km loop, out through Richmond, then back through Burnaby. It made a nice 89 km round trip! Yuko joined us for the completion of our 136 km trip.

Since we had walked the first day, for 37km, and cycled the second day for 231 km, we decided it was kayaks on the 3rd day!

We had to dodge this returning yacht while departing. Two bored daughters waited as dad backed into their mooring site. You can see the kayak storage racks in the distance.

Free at last, and out into the open water! Well, almost, the wind was up, so we chose the protected waters of False Creek. Unfortunately, it was still smokey...

Unfortunately, John was accosted by the pirates! ..but was able to convince them that he was carrying no valuables with him, and was unworthy of pillaging..
