Japan, 2001

Enough of the serene and peaceful. It's on to Tokyo!

Where the royal palace grounds provide a welcome break from the intensity of civilization.

Kamakura, a short distance from Tokyo, sits in a small bay surrounded by mountains.
It was such a secure location, it even served as a rebel group's capital of Japan for about 80 years.

Now famous for this large bronze Buddha, which lost it's surrounding building to a tsunami a few centuries ago.

The temple grounds were very popular with tourists, and also appreciated by our tour guide!
