Visitors, and Christmas.

I remember this bean-slicer thing. It was hand-operated, and we all wanted to turn the handle!
According to mom, these are not the normal local beans. They are longer and wider, and the tips and edge had to be trimmed. Dutch name translates to French Beans.

...no fingers were lost in the process... ...and we don't even like beans!

A visit to the Water Bombers with our "cousins", the van Kessels! L-R Doreen, John, Don, Mr. van K, John van K, Annelies van K, Mrs. van K, Rita van K, and then Ken on the right.

Film was cheaper in those days, so here's another picture: kids only, this time! ...Where is Jim?

Scary Hallowe-en costumes! L-R Tilly Granneman, Doreen, Shirley Granneman, Ken, and John, who are laughing,
because they have big pillow cases to collect candy, not a little Woodwards bag!

Is this a different year, or a different Hallowe-en event? That's Princess Theodora Maria on the left, and Joanne Chalifour?

Ok, John outside and he's carrying the old red-top salt shaker... Was this a result of Dad's old joke, that if you put salt on a bird's tail, it couldn't fly away?

In the old Smith Memorial School gymnasium, Sinterklaas (that's Dad!), and Zwarte Piet! The kids look awe-struck. That's tante Sjaan in the pink dress, with the cigarette...

The other end of the gym. The front row boys Jack Granneman on the left, and John Boersen on the right, and that's Jim up close on the right, and probably Ken on the left.

An older picture of Mom and Dad, with Marion and John.
