Getting there is half the fun!


...and we're off! Why yes, it was an expensive trip taking 6 kids with you! ...but for my mother it was worth it, because she wouldn't need to cook for weeks! ...Starting now!
That's me by the window, and John is the one closer to the camera. Mom doesn't remember what we were eating, though...



The flight started in Vancouver, with a stop in Calgary, then non-stop to Amsterdam, via the polar route. ...there were small lakes in the tundra...



...and large mountains (presumably in Greenland)...



...and the small island of Inchmamock, off the coast of the larger island of Bute, which is across the Firth of Clyde, and just west of Glasgow, Scotland.
This is likely the closest I've ever gotten to Scotland!



...Ok, ok, I cheated. I used these maps to find it...



Almost there, the bulb fields are coming into view now.



...and the canals with boats. You can almost smell the tulips and gouda cheese....



...and we made it! Amsterdam!
