Vail Mountain, Colorado

After checking out the development at Copper Mountain, we continued on to the ski resort of the USA: Vail. For those who don't know (or care!), Vail built Blackcomb (beside Whistler), then sold it to a local real-estate start-up, Intrawest, when the economy took a beating back in the early 80's. Intrawest started with Blackcomb, and now owns Whistler, Copper, and a large collection of other ski resorts, and now rivals Vail's owners for number and size of ski areas under their respective ownerships. [/history lesson]

There we found a convenient (and affordable!!) lunch spot (the building on the left) with a view of the ski hill and a comfortable balcony. Service was a bit slow, but the opportunity to continue the post-drive unwind was welcomed!

The ever-popular bronze figures, interesting to see an animal for once!

With a more crowded main villige area, the water feature is scaled back as well! But it did look like a nice way to cool off!
