Geysir

We then travelled further up the road to Gullfoss...

And the closer we got, the better it looked!

You could get quite close to the water. The standard Icelandic safety equipment was in place: either nothing, or a thin rope.

The falls were chewing back through the rock along the zigzag cracks in the rock, just like Dettifoss.

Depending on the wind and the mist, the view would open up at times.

We really could get close to the water and the edge!

Naturally, it was a good backdrop for a portrait!

The angles of the erosion, and the differences in the hardness of the rock layers were on good display!

Since the end of the trail viewpoint was below the river level, it makes for a pretty good closeup of the rapids.

On our way back, we passed by Geysir, and as a joke I lifed my camera and said "there it goes", and 2 seconds later, it did! We had a good laugh over that one!
