The Sake Tour

According the the guide book, there was a sake sampling shop nearby. And according the the map, it led us through this shopping street.

Here it is! Note the floor map. The area inside was open concept, and there were seven different companies independantly sharing the space.

The section along that wall is a different shop than where we sat. We were required to find a shop that also sold coffee. This one did...

This shop's "sake experience" included a range of sake types, and each was in a set of four. We all chose the same set, the "best of each flavour type". Yuko led the way!

Once the sake and coffee were finished, we continued back to the train station. Along the way, Yuko found this tea shop, and chose a few samples for later testing in Vancouver.

After the train ride back to central Kyoto, we searched out a dinner spot along Pontocho, the well known narrow pub street.

They have chosen! based on the menu, and cooking style, this is the place...

Or at least, the beginning of the even narrower side street that it was on... On? Ha, nope. At the end of the narrow side street was a steep set of stairs!

It was a good find, unfortunately the food was so good that it was gone before I could get a picture! And so here we are at the end of another day!
