The Shogun's Castle: Nijo-jo
Imposing architecture, though it looks like it's only thin copper sheeting. Oh well, it would have been enough to intimidate the peasantry!
Did I already mention my fascination with the big old hinges? No? Well, I... What's that? I already did? Ok, sorry!
Along the back corner, the view over the moat. There is a garden walk path along the outer walls, but we still haven't explored there.
A view through the wall. There was no gate here, even though it was opening out to another courtyard.
This section of the garden did have a few weeping cherries that were cooperating fully!

As we were on our way out, we encountered a few more kimono renters! (...at least, I think so...)
Ok, these people were not renting their outfits! There were dance groups performing just inside the main gates, and they were one of those groups.
And here's another group. We are outside the castle now. During the perfomances the spectators were up to 5 deep, so there were no photo ops.
However, they were more easily photographed while re-grouping outside. The performances were on the gravel, and quite dusty.
Another group practicing their moves in the pedestrian walkway beside the tour bus loop. They all looked like school dance teams...
