Whistler! Blackcomb!

This is from my gps, and it shows the after-lunch ski runs we made on one day. The elevation (red) is meters, and when it rises, we're on the chair-lift...
We travelled about 23 km that afternoon (and about the same in the morning). My skiing speed averaged about 28 kph, with top speeds between 40 and 67 kph.
The frequent pauses are to let my legs recover, ...I mean, to let Yuko catch up! Yes, that's it! We were having fun combining 2 or 3 chairlifts into one looong run.

Ok, there were numbers available, and I had to analyse them! I could calculate the slope from the gps elevation figures, and then compared my speed at the different steepnesses.
Obviously, the steeper it got, the slower I went! I seemed to really get up to speed on slopes between 5 and 20 degrees. On those slopes, I know I can stop whenever I need to...

Ok, that's a new way to travel on the snow !

We were walking to the village to meet up with Peter and Jen and the boys, and then saw this: A new performing arts theater... Wow, is this place ever moving upscale!

We met them near the skating rink, at the snow pile which has toboggan runs built on it!

It's getting so that there is so much to do in the village, that there's no more time for skiing anymore!

A snowmobile sled... Yes, the high center of gravity causes interesting wipe-outs!

The snow was warming in the sun, and starting to slow down...

The free skating rink: you can rent skates for $6, and the sessions run 1.5 hrs at a time. Cute little Zamboni!

Everyone is starting to get tired... I didn't take the camera along when we were downhill skiing, the weather was too grey on those days, and that camera lens is heavy!

And soon enough, it was back to the resort to get packed up, and then head back home!
