On the water!

Starting to get used to this paddling in the cold... It's a great motivator, if you take it too casually, you get pretty cold! I use it as a workout, and so I'm usually overheating a bit...

A nice view of the mountains through the sailboats on the bay...

Hold it just a minute. I'm sitting in a kayak, so why is that sailboat mast at eye level... Oh. ...that can't be good.

Here's an enlarged inset of the other boat in the distance. Recognise any similar parts...

The water was too rough to see into it very well, but you can see down the mast to one of the spreader arms, that wiggly horizontal line that meets the mast just as it disappears.

Here's the gps track showing its location, at the far left of my travels. It's about 300 meters offshore, under about 8 meters of water (including the tide height at that time).

So 2017 has it's first unhappy boat! The keel must have settled into the silty bottom, it's upright, and the bow is to the right in the pictures.
During a still moment, I could see the vague outline of the stern railing, but not the hull itself. I don't know when it sank, I saw it first a few days ago, but didn't have my camera with me.
This is pretty much high tide now (~4.2m), and since the lower low tide's are only at night this week, it will probably be a while before I can get a picture of the submerged hull...
