Balcony buds. For dad...

Pteridophyllum racemosum (not a fern), an unusual perennial from the mountains of Japan.
Planted last year, and looks to be coming back with even more flowers in its 2nd year!
So far it seems happy sharing a pot with the Coral Bark Maple.

The Katsura (Pieris japonica), well on its way into its 3rd year here.

Lewisia. Growing very well from its single plant a few years ago.
Re-potted last year, with the daughter plants being seperated a bit. Many flowering stalks.

Lewisia. This fellow has a more compact growth pattern, and the many flower stalks are well on the way here too.

Skimmia japonica reevesiana, also into its 3rd year here, and thriving.
